Sharing is a big part of sharing cults. Often sharing is a big part of a cult at the earlier stage, but then later turns into a system where wealth is rather more concentrated in the hands of a few (usually the leadership). Think of Christianity and CouchSurfing. Other cults, such as Scientology don't beat around the bush.
